SOTO ZEN TEMPLE "koukokuzan kensouji"


They build in 1635 by “Katsushige” for his younger son “tadanao” who died of smallpox at the age of 24. All of the tombstones are Gorinto here. It was built more than 350 years ago and still orderly line there. It is very powerful and rare in Tokyo.

Gorinto(Five-Ringed Tower)
It is a Buddhist pagoda. In Japan, it is used for tombstone. There are 5 shapes tower. From the bottom, it represented the Earth, the Water, the Fire, the Air, and the Void. It is thought that is the Five Elements of the Universe.

By Subway : Take "Nanboku-Line". Get off at "Azabu Juban" station. 5 minutes to walk from the stop.
